Comparisons and learning

Do you believe you understand your product and service? The stuff that you actually sell to others?

It is quite interesting, when you sit in your chair and believe that actually, you are differentiating your product. May be you have done your marketplace analysis, competitive analysis and more. Now you think: “Hey – I really know what I am selling, right?”

Please believe me that you never get it right 100%! Why? Because you simply cannot know all the ways in your customer’s thinking path.

And I don’t want to go to a customer who does not understand my great product and magnificent product, and then say that they got it wrong. Blaming the customer. Ha! Impossible. So, when a customer does not get my message, I have to go back to the drawing board.

Something has gone wrong with what I said, or wrote, in my marketing message. Otherwise, it would be crystal clear, right? And even so other customers get the message, some few don’t. I don’t want to give up on them, want to include them, without losing others.

There is something to learn here. I actually know NLPlers who say that they are looking for those failures because they are so good in what they are doing already. When they fail, they know they stretch themselves into new areas. What a great assumption, isn’t it?

Now a friend came back and told me that his HR department is not interested in my Language and Behaviour Profile Training because they have trainings related to the 7 Habits. What? I could think, where the heck is the relationship between the 7 habits and the Language of Influence and Persuasion?

My training is about influencing others to get motivated to do their work, by your products, start projects or more. It is about understanding that you can break down or decode individual behaviours into patterns and then use appropriate language to influence those.

The 7 Habits, to me, is about making people more effective in their environment.

Influencing language is needed to get them motivated to be more effective. And to keep the effectiveness up by creating the environment people need to stay motivated. Steps that start before the 7 Habits. With words only!!

What is interesting so, is the stretch that the company makes. Because even so I did not see the connection, they did! And I have to build and learn from this! Interesting.
