You are what you fear most

If there is something that you see, hear or feel – when there is something or someone that ticks you off and makes you angry.

If you say something like – “I cannot stand him when he is doing that” – believe me, it is you that you are seeing. You are only reacting to your own inner image.

In the process of growing up, we learn to install filters in our mind. Those filters in our mind determine how we look at the world outside of us.

Many of the sensory sounds and feelings that flood us every single seconds will not be noticed by our conscious mind. Our mind filters those out.

Can you hear the sound of the traffic on the street in front of your house while you are reading this? Do you notice the noise of your air condition? Do you actually feel the chair that you are sitting on? (I don’t assume you read this while standing!!). Can you feel the cloth on your body?

No?

Of course not, or only, after you read these few lines above. Your mind doesn’t need to focus on all that stuff. It will only react to it, if there is something that it needs to attend to. Like, when you are in a disco and you hear lots of noises suddenly. You look, because, hey… may be there is a fight ongoing, and your unconscious mind warns you to get ready to run. Once you realise that it is nothing, you forget all around you again.

Or, think of the radiowaves that just go through your room. Your eye sight is limited, so you cannot see the waves (luckily!!).

Now, there are only a few bits left that is left after all that has been filtered out. Only a few signals reach your conscious mind. And, here is the important piece. You might want to write it down. You can only see outside, what is deemed important inside of you. A policeman looks differently at the world compared to a real estate agent.

You will see negative things, if you start focusing on the negative stuff. You will see positive stuff, once you start focusing on the positive stuff. You create the neurological connections that support your negative thoughts. You see it when you believe it but in order to believe it, you need to have the respective neurological connections.

This also means that because there is so much filtered out from the outside, and so little left in the inside – you can only reflect inside of your mind, when there is a match or a similarity between what you see outside and what is inside of you.

If you see think the person in front of you is nasty there is then a character trait inside of you that is also nasty. If you see angry people all around you, there is also anger inside of you. It all is a reflection of you!!

Have you ever experienced a situation where you talked about someone to a friend and the friend just didn’t agree with your opinion? May be said, that you are wrong about that person? This is exactly, what I am trying to say here.

This is actually a great self development tool. Ask yourself the moment someone upsets you, what this is telling about you. What is the message here? It is like a mirror hold up in front of you.

I am saddened to see that there has been another carnage of violence in Pakistan. For me, these are terrorists, that are full of self-doubt and fear about something that they cannot really comprehend. The reflection inside their mind states that all around them is negative and that they have the power to stop it through terror.

Former Pakistani president Benazir Bhutto is a symbol of their worst fear – the fear that a woman can run an Islamic country, and bring democracy or just some more light to this tortured place.

Terrorists want to destroy and throw as many stones as possible into this pathway.

They verbally flame those that they hate, and don’t realise that what they are uttering is already existing inside of them. And this drives them up the wall.

Just think about it for moment, what this then can me – May be, they might actually long for what they want to destroy.
