Success and decisions – how do you know what to do next?

A former participant of mine approached me with an issue. She is at the crossroad of her career. Too many choices available and she does not know how to proceed.

She came to me to see, if there is any NLP tool that could assist her in finding her way out of the fog.

There are plenty of ways through NLP.

This is what I and a friend of mind proposed to her.

1.) Clarify your competencies. What are the competencies that you need to have to meet any of the future job requirements? Are there competencies that you need to build up, still, and how do you feel about this?

Clarify your beliefs and values regarding the choices. What do you need to believe in, and what are the values behind each of the choices? Which ones are the ones that are dear to you and that you can live with now and in the future?

3.) Also clarify your identity. The identity sits atop of values and beliefs, and determines our thinking. How does it feel to you as a person when you achieve your outcomes?

These steps are actually part of the Neurological level of alignments, taught by Robert Dilts of NLP University. (A very, very powerful “tool” taught in good Master Practitioner classes).

What else did we propose to her?

These are other steps that are possible to undergo.

a.) How would someone know that a decision taken is a good one? Would you need to see, hear, feel or read about it? (or a combination)

b.) How many times would you need to see, hear, feel or read about your decision and that it was a good one? (or a combination)

Both will give you your very own personal Convincer Strategy (which actually is a very powerful tool in sales as well)

c.) Undergo the NLP Outcome Development and create outcomes for all the choices available. How would it feel when you compare the different career pathsways?

d.) and similar to the competency development – what would she need to do more of, less of or maintain, to start working at her decision.

Just now, I had another idea on how to help. It has a bit to do with visualisation and that is how it goes:

Visualise one career pathway on one hand and the other pathway on the other hand. Then see, how your unconscious mind rates the choices. I bet you will feel drawn toward one of your hands and that is the one that your unconscious mind prefers.

Sounds a bit strange? Well, try it out for yourself and tell me how it goes!
